After getting the basic introduction rundown in a zero episode, this one goes all in on the silliness as you’d want it to. With a job well done prior to this, the gang is getting back into the usual routine of things but are also tired and hungry. They’re viewed as heroes and we get a fun rundown of the main group with some real snark in it, such as the lack of wind resistance being helpful to the flat-chested member of the group. The girls are kept to some special training in order to get on track for what they’ll be facing in the future and it’s fun, at least until they realize some have ditched and found more amusing ways of having some special training that involves tasty cold treats.
In Summary:
While I don’t imagine that the main series was constantly serious or anything, Mini Toji just goes all in on the humor and it works well here. There’s some simple silliness in watching them go through their special training or just hanging out with each other. It doesn’t do much to really introduce the cast and who they are but that wasn’t really expected with an offshoot short form series like this. The zero episode handled some of that but even if you never learn a single character’s name you can have some good fun with this show because it plays silly and does it well. I’m curious to see if they get more cohesive mini-episodes here or if it’s as varied as this one is.
