A passion for the bean!

What They Say:
Amami, the owner of the Rainy Color café, assigned Nozomu Tokura as the manager of the new shop in Hawaii. Even though life of Nozomu is increasingly hectic toward the opening, he and his new fellows in Hawaii keep positive and make their efforts trying to get everything down. Can they make it by the date of opening?

The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
I was wary of introducing the dog to the series because it just felt like such low hanging fruit but Nana has been fun and their largely standalone episode the last time around was more fun than it should have been. Nana’s walkabout has now bring Nozomu into the sphere of Chipper, who deals in coffee beans that gets Nozomu quite excited. Suffice to say it’s a match made in heaven with the two of them because Nozomu’s smart enough to appreciate something done well even if it’s in his field by someone else. You get a good sense of him wanting to learn more and a shared passion for coffee, though one might imagine there’d be more about “trade secrets” if this show was made elsewhere.

In Summary:
While little actually happens here in terms of story or progress, Ame-Con gives us some time in introducing a new character that Nozomu us going to get along with that adds to the local flavor of the series. It’s still not a great show but it’s functioning better than its predecessors in managing the time and pacing of it all and it’s keeping the cast small enough to be interesting enough to watch play out even if you have minimal to no real hope of anything that will make it memorable. It’s a pleasant little time waster and that’s a decent compliment for a show like this.
